Who We Are

Brightscale Labs Limited operates fitmetriclab.com and its fitness calculators. Registered in England and Wales, Company No. 16990009. Registered office: 8 Flay Field, Tithebarn, Exeter, England, EX1 3YA.

For privacy requests (access, correction, or deletion of your data), contact us at [email protected] with "Privacy Request" in the subject line.

How Our Tools Work

All calculators run entirely in your browser. There is no sign-up. We do not send your inputs (weight, height, body fat, training metrics, heart-rate values, lifts, pace, intake) to our servers. Exports and results are created on your device and stored wherever you choose to save them.

What We Collect

We use one analytics tool — Microsoft Clarity — and only after you consent through the InMobi Choice consent message (see below). Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process IP addresses and basic device/browser data as part of delivering pages, providing security, and serving content. This processing is handled by Cloudflare under their own privacy policy — we do not have access to this data.

Calculator Inputs and Local Storage

Inputs you type into a calculator are processed in your browser to compute a result. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else — the calculation engine runs on the page itself.

Individual calculator pages do not persist your inputs: reload the page and the fields return to their defaults.

Guided Mode (/en/guided/) is the exception, and it stores more than a preference. So that a value entered once is not requested again by every subsequent calculation, it saves the values you supply — which may include body measurements such as weight, height, age, sex and body-fat percentage — in your browser's local storage under fitmetric-guided-session. This is stored on your device only, is never sent to a server, and expires automatically after 30 days.

The running transcript of your calculations is kept separately, in session storage, under fitmetric-guided-transcript. Session storage is held by the browser for one tab and is erased automatically the moment that tab is closed — it is not shared with other tabs and does not survive closing the browser. This is what allows a refresh to keep your work without leaving anything behind afterwards. Like everything else here, it stays on your device and is never transmitted.

You can erase it at any time using Clear values in Guided Mode, the Clear all local data button on our Cookie Policy page, or your browser settings. If you would rather it were not stored at all, use the individual calculator pages instead — they keep nothing.

How We Use Information

Cookies and Consent

On your first visit you are shown the InMobi Choice consent message. Microsoft Clarity (analytics) loads only if you consent; if you decline non-essential cookies or dismiss the message, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Your choice is remembered so you are not asked again — to change it, use the Cookie preferences link in the footer, which reopens the consent message. See the Cookie Policy for a full breakdown of every cookie that is set, and every cookie that could be set in future.

Legal Basis (UK/EU)

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. See the Google Privacy & Terms — Partner Sites page for how Google handles data from sites that use its services.

International Transfers

Our processors (Cloudflare, Microsoft, Google) operate globally. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms required by UK and EU data protection law.

Retention

Local storage on your device persists until you clear it. Cloudflare processes connection metadata under its own retention policy — we do not have access to it. We retain support correspondence (email enquiries) for up to 24 months for record-keeping and follow-up. If analytics or advertising are introduced, consent records will be retained for 12 months from when consent is given.

Children

FitMetricLab is a general-audience educational reference and is not directed at children under 16. Some calculators (for example body composition or BMR) accept ages below 16, but the tool itself does not collect personal information from any user. Parents and guardians who believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that warrants attention can contact us at the address above.

Changes to This Policy

We update this page when practices change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for a period of time. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
